Gramenon: Vivid Rhone Reds From A Resilient Woman

Michèle Aubery at Domaine Gramenon manages to take Grenache and Syrah from the southern Rhone and make wines that are simultaneously hearty and lively. Not only do her wines walk a delicate tightrope between these opposing styles, they do it with flash and excitement. This is no easy stunt to pull-off, and that's why I'm so impressed by her work. Here, the slightly-higher abv is appropriate for the climate, and more importantly, they are the result of healthy, ripe grapes. The Gramenon wines manage to cross many borders of the natural wine world and appeal to everyone, which is always worth rallying behind. Getting a few extra of each to cellar for a few years is highly recommended, though don't hesitate to drink them now.
