Yes, “Abracadabra,” as in the Steve Miller Band song, but also, now a magical blend of skin-contact Chardonnay (about 70%) sourced from Macari Vineyard and Merlot (about 30%) from a two-acre, backyard vineyard in Orient, Long Island.
You might say this makes no sense, and maybe you’d be right. But this is no joker. The magic of “Abracadabra” doesn’t have to make sense (by its very nature shouldn’t make sense) and how these two grapes come together to make a Long-Island-gone-Jura, poulsard-y-glou-glou, space cowboy wine I don’t really know. But they do, and it does. And it’s really delicious. This wine is a gangster of love.
Though it’s mostly Chardonnay, this is more of a very light red in color, with a tart plum, delicately oxidative nose with dried spices, leather, hay, etc. The wine is buoyant, playful, airy – it flies like an eagle, like a jet airliner; it should be chilled a bit. So take the money and run to this wine.
