100% Sev Areni from the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, 150 year-old ungrafted vines at 6500 ft elevation. The vines had been abandoned for the past 30 years. Only 1500 bottles produced. Aaron Rawlins left the US at age 18 to cook in France, Spain, and the UK, before moving to the Georgian and Armenian Caucasus to make wine.

Haunting and floral, with notes of old books, sage, and Pisco. The palate has a lot of cherry cordial notes along with velvety, stewed fruit. Brambly raspberry, chocolate milk, burnt tomatoes, and iron. The darker, earthier flavors are lifted up at the end by lively, tangy acids. There's a little bit of texture and grip, but not too much. The juxtaposition of all these flavors in a medium-bodied wine is deeply compelling, and though it has elements of funky natural wine as well as more classic notes of Right Bank Bordeaux, it is in neither camp. This will make it satisfyingly delicious to many and confounding to others, but everyone will have thoughts about this wine, make no mistake about it. Pair with braised meats and stews for maximum enjoyment. Zero sulfur added.

Pickup Hours and Delivery Information

We are open 12pm-7pm, seven days a week. Orders placed online are ready to be picked up within the hour.

Neighborhood delivery:

If you are requesting free local delivery, we are asking for a $75 minimum. Deliveries are made Monday - Saturday within our local neighborhood free of charge, defined by Eastern Parkway, Lafayette Ave, 5th Ave, and Franklin Ave. If you would like to tip our lovely delivery people, you can Venmo Vanderbilt-Wine-Merchants or add "Gratuity" to your cart.

Please order by 3pm to guarantee same-day delivery.

Greater Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan:

We make weekly hand deliveries outside of our neighborhood. These deliveries will incur a flat fee of $10. Once we receive your order we will reach out to coordinate the day and time. Orders are typically delivered within 1 week of purchase and usually sooner than that. If you need the wines earlier, or if you have any other special requests - please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to help you with whatever your needs are, no matter how specialized or unique! Email us at orders@vanderbilt.wine or call the shop during business hours and we'll find something that works for you.

Outside of NYC:

Our wines are stored at our Brooklyn store and storage facility and will be shipped via common carrier. If you prefer a specific shipping provider please call the store during business hours or email us at orders@vanderbilt.wine. We do not ship during warm months – typically late May to mid-September. If you wish to ship to a location outside of NY State, you assume all responsibility for shipment. We will notify you before processing your order if we are unable to ship wine to the state you request.  We currently do not ship to the following states: AL, AR, DE, GA, IL, KY, MS, NC, OK, PA, RI, TX, UT. As statutory laws are changing constantly, acceptance of an order is not a guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you.

Concierge Shipping

All orders greater than $400 are entitled to complimentary NYC delivery or common carrier Ground Shipping. Just select the Concierge Shipping option at checkout.

We are here to help you with your order, so don't hesitate to text us at (718) 398-1800 or email us at orders@vanderbilt.wine with any questions!

From time to time we purchase private collections and offer these wines to you at competitive and, we think, very attractive pricing.  We only purchase cellars of top provenance bottles that have been stored in ideal conditions, and we only work with trusted acquaintances and collectors.  If the wine you are considering does not display certain information, or if you would like certain images of the bottles please reach out using the form below.
