Viader Napa Valley 2002Regular price $68.00 Save $-68.00
Delia Viader started out in Napa in the late 80's, a single mother with a PhD in Philosophy who bought vineyards on a section of Howell Mountain well-suited to Cabernet Franc as well as Sauvignon. Very rich — Viader calls it 'liquid cashmere' — this bottling is in great shape nearly two decades later. Dark blackberry, creme de cassis, almost thick and syrupy, with black olives, spicy garrigue, thyme, and more spice than tannin on the finish. Though it has "gobs of fruit" per the style of the time, it doesn't get too sappy or cloying. The oak is integrated and the wine shows quite a lot of fresh fruit character. If you are grilling and charring your meat, this is absolutely the wine you want.
