Fabio Gea La Msoira e'l Rastel "Veja Dota" Langhe Rosso 2013
It's not easy to find small, up-and-coming winemakers in Barbaresco that consistently produce phenomenal wines and remain true to their ideals of the trade and their worldview. Fabio Gea is one of these rarities. His production is tiny - about 4,000 bottles across all bottlings- that it is next to impossible to find lots of information about his wines on the interwebs.
Fabio works according to biodynamic practices and makes his wine naturally. The wines are rested in oak casks that are tempered with volcanic rocks in a sauna, and then transferred to porcelain urns that Fabio makes himself.
Fabio's Langhe is produced from a small 2ha vineyard and is a blend of 90% Barbera and 10% Nebbiolo. This is as perfect and carefully mentored a Langhe as you will find. The wine spends some of its 2 years of aging in volcanic rock heated barrels (as opposed to toasted) and some time in porcelain urns that Fabio designs himself. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Only 1,317 bottles made.
If you're curious about Fabio and his estate our importer, Louis/Dressner has a great writeup.

We make weekly hand deliveries outside of neighborhood, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays. These deliveries will incur a flat fee of $10 however consideration will be given to proximity and route. We don’t want to charge you additional fees on your wine unless we have to. If you need your wine sooner than the next scheduled delivery day please select FedEx Ground or call the shop during business hours to arrange alternative transportation.
Outside of NYC – Current Release Wines:
Our Current Release wines are stored at our Brooklyn store and storage facility and will be shipped via FedEx Ground. We have found FedEx Ground provides the best shipping conditions at the best price. If you prefer an alternative shipping provider please call the store during business hours or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not ship during warm months – typically late May to mid-September. If you wish to ship to another state, you assume all responsibility for shipment. As statutory laws are changing constantly, acceptance of an order is not a guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you. We will notify you before processing your order if we are unable to ship wine to the state you request.
Most of our Library Wines are stored in temperature and humidity controlled professional facilities. These wines will be sent via temperature controlled vehicles and will incur the most competitive pricing we can find. If you purchase library wines you MUST select “Concierge Shipping” at checkout. A VWM representative will follow-up with you once we determine the price and the logistics partner for shipping your wines.
