2015 Herv̩ Souhaut Sainte Epine
Herv̩ Souhaut works just 5 ha on the right bank ofåÊthe northern Rh̫ne - right across from the famousåÊhills of Hermitage. åÊAll of his vines are extremely old, especiallyåÊthis steep parcel of terraced 100+åÊyear old massale selection Syrah. åÊBecause of the age of the vine the yield is extremely low - 25hl / ha.
The grapesåÊare fermented with partial whole cluster, resulting in natural carbonic maceration - a signature of Souhaut's style. åÊThe wine is then aged in neutral barrels for 8 months and bottled unfiltered. åÊA maximum of 25 mg/L of sulfur is used at bottling (a fraction compared to the 250 - 300 mg/L used for conventional wines).
This is a wine from one of the oldest parcels of non-clone vines in all of the Northern Rh̫ne made by one of the absolute great natural winemakers of the area. åÊA "can't miss" selection.
Daily deliveries are made within our local neighborhood, defined by Eastern Parkway, Lafayette Ave, 5th Ave, and Franklin Ave.
Greater Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan:
We make weekly hand deliveries outside of neighborhood, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays. These deliveries will incur a flat fee of $10 however consideration will be given to proximity and route. We don’t want to charge you additional fees on your wine unless we have to. If you need your wine sooner than the next scheduled delivery day please select FedEx Ground or call the shop during business hours to arrange alternative transportation.
Outside of NYC – Current Release Wines:
Our Current Release wines are stored at our Brooklyn store and storage facility and will be shipped via FedEx Ground. We have found FedEx Ground provides the best shipping conditions at the best price. If you prefer an alternative shipping provider please call the store during business hours or email us at email@example.com. We do not ship during warm months – typically late May to mid-September. If you wish to ship to another state, you assume all responsibility for shipment. As statutory laws are changing constantly, acceptance of an order is not a guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you. We will notify you before processing your order if we are unable to ship wine to the state you request.
Most of our Library Wines are stored in temperature and humidity controlled professional facilities. These wines will be sent via temperature controlled vehicles and will incur the most competitive pricing we can find. If you purchase library wines you MUST select “Concierge Shipping” at checkout. A VWM representative will follow-up with you once we determine the price and the logistics partner for shipping your wines. Any questions regarding Library Wine shipment or Concierge Shipping please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the shop during regular business hours.
All Current Release wines are stored in our retail location in Brooklyn. All Library wines, unless otherwise stated, are stored in a professional storage facility with optimal cellar conditions and best-in-class security and inventory management practices.
