Sicus "Cartoixa" 2016
Started in 2009 by Eduard Pie, Sicus is a small project in Bonastre, a tiny town about 45 minutes south of Barcelona. There are just a handful of winemakers here, among them the international superstar winemakers behind Partida Creus. It’s always exciting to find new talent next to a certified star, and we were thrilled when we tasted the Sicus wines: they have energy and tension, and they transmit the place where they’re from in a way that only natural wine can.
Eduard works with certified organic vineyards, and relies on biodynamic farming practices. Because he wants to showcase the unique differences in terroir in Bonastra, his focus is on single varietal and single parcel wines. This parcel is made of limestone soils, and located 205m above sea level, with a prevailing Mediterranean wind. The grapes are picked by hand, then foot pressed, left on the skins for 12 days, then put into clay vessels that are buried in the vineyard. The result is a cidery, slightly tarty wine with plenty of leesy richness and a vibrant mineral character. Only 1,050 bottles made.
Daily deliveries are made within our local neighborhood, defined by Eastern Parkway, Lafayette Ave, 5th Ave, and Franklin Ave.
Greater Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan:
We make weekly hand deliveries outside of neighborhood, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays. These deliveries will incur a flat fee of $10 however consideration will be given to proximity and route. We don’t want to charge you additional fees on your wine unless we have to. If you need your wine sooner than the next scheduled delivery day please select FedEx Ground or call the shop during business hours to arrange alternative transportation.
Outside of NYC – Current Release Wines:
Our Current Release wines are stored at our Brooklyn store and storage facility and will be shipped via FedEx Ground. We have found FedEx Ground provides the best shipping conditions at the best price. If you prefer an alternative shipping provider please call the store during business hours or email us at email@example.com. We do not ship during warm months – typically late May to mid-September. If you wish to ship to another state, you assume all responsibility for shipment. As statutory laws are changing constantly, acceptance of an order is not a guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you. We will notify you before processing your order if we are unable to ship wine to the state you request.
Most of our Library Wines are stored in temperature and humidity controlled professional facilities. These wines will be sent via temperature controlled vehicles and will incur the most competitive pricing we can find. If you purchase library wines you MUST select “Concierge Shipping” at checkout. A VWM representative will follow-up with you once we determine the price and the logistics partner for shipping your wines. Any questions regarding Library Wine shipment or Concierge Shipping please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the shop during regular business hours.
All Current Release wines are stored in our retail location in Brooklyn. All Library wines, unless otherwise stated, are stored in a professional storage facility with optimal cellar conditions and best-in-class security and inventory management practices.
